The Kirkwood story

We're Homeowners at Heart

We didn't take the traditional path into homebuilding. And that's part of what makes our approach different.

Art and Teresa Kirkwood met while Art was attending Shaw University and Teresa was attending NC State. After graduation, both pursued careers outside of construction. But Teresa had a natural eye for design and the little details that make a space special, while Art loved meeting people, listening, and building lasting relationships.

In 2003, Art and Teresa founded Kirkwood Builders Inc. with a simple philosophy: A Different Perspective. An Exceptional Home.

Without the traditional background of many homebuilders, they brought a fresh perspective to the industry—one centered on understanding the homeowner's vision, providing personal attention, and treating every home as if it were their own.

That philosophy continues to guide Kirkwood Builders today, from the first conversation to the finishing touches. Together with an exceptional team of skilled tradespeople, Art and Teresa focus on thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and lasting relationships—creating homes that reflect the people who live in them.
